This community-led 501(c)(3) is dedicated to the preservation of the First Moncado Church of Hawaii; a registered historical site registered with the State Historic Preservation Department of Hawaii.
The Moncado Church was Founded by Hilario Camino Moncado, this community was once the Moncado Village-a society rooted in mutual aid, cultural practice, and shared land stewardship. Moncado's descendants and families of Kalaepāa Drive have long considered this space sacred and historically important as the homes surrounding the church belonged to the families of the first filipino migrants working in the sugar plantations owned by the Hawaii Sugar Planters' Association in 1914.
In 2008, Odette Carrasquillo Moncado, the granddaughter of Hilario Moncado, began the process of preserving the church as a recognized Historical site on April 14, 2012.
On November 2, 2015 according to DCCA filings, Odette’s name and information were hand crossed out and replaced with their names, and others, assuming themselves as board of directors of the organization (this document below is public, and are available on the Hawaii DCCA website).
Form 990 filed in 2015 indicated that it possessed $418,765 in charitable assets, no public accounting has been done since.
